In this cutting-edge workshop from design and imaging expert Colin Fleming, youa€™ll get up and running with the tools and workflows involved in this new type of publishing for Apple, RIM, and Android tablets. Youa€™ll create a number of folios, layouts, and types of interactivity, including Image Sequences, which allow readers to control the playback of images as they would with a flipbook to show time lapse imagery or move around a 3D object. This chapter looks at some of the basics of designing for DPS, including planning folder structures, making layouts the right size, and working with styles and layers.

Building Design Folios
Design folios are at the heart of your work in DPS, and in this chapter youa€™ll learn how to use the Folio Builder panel to create a design folio. Youa€™ll also learn how to add articles, layouts, images, and more, as well as how to preview and share your folios.

Creating Interactive Overlays
Interactivity is a big part of what makes DPS documents special. In this chapter youa€™ll learn how to use overlays to add hyperlinks, panoramas, audio, video, and more.

DPS Services: Folio Production and Publishing
This chapter looks at DPS services: what they are, why you might want them, and how to use them.

The lessons are wrapped in a feature-rich interface that lets you jump to any topic and bookmark individual sections for later review. Full-Screen mode provides a hi-def, immersive experience, and Watch-and-Work mode shrinks the video into a small window so you can play the videos alongside your application. Also included are exercise files that give you an easy way to try out the techniques you learn.
